Posted: July 19, 2011 by Book Minions in Book Review, Giveaway

WELCOME! Thanks for stopping by as part of the Tour de Force Menage a Blog event! Ready for some FUN and some awesome prizes?! I thought you were. Did I mention that every comment gets you a FREE ebook copy of Lacey Weatherford’s The Trouble With Spells? All you have to do is post your favorite flirt/pick- up line! Don’t have one? Come up with one! My favorite is “If I tell you that your body is SMOKING hot, would you hold it against me?” That line was selected as the best from HOT actor/ Lacey’s muse for Vance Mangum, Matt Lanter  and won me Season 2 of 90210 from Lacey herself.

Every comment you make during the tour, you will get an entry into the tour’s Grand Prize…. a free KINDLE! So start chatting it up!

That’s not even the BEST part! Lacey is also throwing in a GRAND PRIZE winner herself! All you have to do is go to her site, Lacey Weatherford Books, visit all the reviews from her sponsors on her sidebar, and post the phrase Hot warlocks rock my world!” on your favorite review’s page. You can also get 5 extra entries for EVERY Tweet, Facebook status update, or your own blog post which mentions: “Today Only! Win free ebooks & a signed pic of HOT actor #MattLanter! #Muse #MenageABlog

What does Lacey’s GRAND PRIZE winner get? They will receive a gift basket for “A Night IN with Vance Mangum!” Sounds spiffy, what’s included?! Glad you asked! For your Night In with Vance Mangum, you will be pampered with lovely spa products. To enjoy your relaxing bath, you will also receive some candles, relaxing music, and delicious hand-dipped chocolates. After your amazing bath, you can curl up in your very own “Vance Kiss” T-shirt, as pictured above in the banner, and read all four ebooks from Lacey’s Of Witches and Warlocks series so you can get totally swooned by bad boy Vance! But WAIT! There’s MORE! You will receive a PERSONALIZED autograph sent directly from Matt Lanter! Yes, you read that correctly! Matt Lanter will sign a picture and send it to YOU!

Do I have your attention now? I hope so!

Why do I LOVE, not only The Trouble With Spells, but the rest of the Of Witches and Warlocks series? Vance brings out your inner criminal! After reading The Trouble With Spells, you will want to stalk your new FAVORITE bad boy and hope he’ll throw you up against his locker for an INTENSE game of tonsil hockey. If you are like me and prefer paperback over ebooks, the wait for the UPS/FedEx guy, or even Amazon to make the book available, will bring your homicidal tendencies right to the surface. As soon as your package is delivered, you would want to attack the delivery man with KISSES! But what happens if you are out of town and have to drive home when the latest book arrives at your doorstep? You imagine what it would be like to be the cause of a high speed car chase through several jurisdictions AND across state lines! All in all, it has got to be a crime NOT to love Vance!

Why does VANCE have this effect on people? He is just that LOVEABLE! He takes care of his girl and protects her from harm. But he has a dark, troubled PAST you want to fix. If you were Team Edward or Jacob, you’d forget those losers in a HEARTBEAT and be captain of Team Vance! Let’s not forget his kisses. OH MY! You would start to picture what it is like if he kissed you. When Vance gets into trouble, you imagine yourself running alongside Portia to help YOUR man out.

Book Blogger Hop 7/8-7/11

Posted: July 8, 2011 by Book Minions in Book Blogger Hop, Giveaway

This week’s question isn’t a question at all!  I thought I would do things a little differently this week and give all of you a chance to promote a giveaway (or two!) from the blogosphere.

The catch?

You have to find another blogger who is having a giveaway and promote their giveaway for them!  If possible, promote a giveaway from a blogger doing the Hop (hey, you are visiting other blogs anyway, right?).  Have fun with this one!  It’s not an easy task this week!  :)

One of our favorite authors, Lacey Weatherford, is taking part in the Tour de Force, Menage A Blog event beginning July 18. Her stop is actually July 19. Every one who comments on that day gets a free ebook copy of her first book in the Of Witches and Warlocks series, The Trouble with Spells. Not only that, but throughout the Menage A Blog event, there will be a free Kindle given away. On July 19, Lacey will also have her own grand prize winner. The winner will receieve a basket of spa products, goodies, music, candles, books, swag, and a t-shirt. But it gets better! Lacey’s grand prize winner will also receive a PERSONALIZED autograph from the actor Matt Lanter (90210, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Vampire’s Suck) who happens to be Lacey’s muse for her leading male character, Vance Mangum. How cool is that?!

Synopsis from the book: They’re out for your soul and they don’t have heaven in mind….

Willow knows she’s different from other girls, and not just because she loves tinkering with cars. Willow has a gift. She can look into the future and know people’s dreams and hopes, their sorrows and regrets, just by touching them. She has no idea where this power comes from. But the assassin, Alex, does. Gorgeous, Mysterious Alex knows more about Willow than Willow herself does. He knows that her powers link to dak and dangerous forces and that he’s one of the few humans left who can fight them. When Alex finds himself falling in love with his sworn enemy, he discovers that nothing is as it seems, least of all good and evil.

My thoughts: I mainly picked this book up at the library because it not only has an interesting cover, but also the Synopsis sounded really interesting to me. Once I started reading this book, I just couldn’t put it down. I just fell in love with Willow and Alex. This is another one of those books that are going on the theme of Angels. The Angels in this book are a different view from what has been previously portraid in other books, such as Fallen by Lauren Kate and Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick. They are a little more sinister and something to fear then be admired, but the only ones who know the real truth about Angels, are Alex, who’s mother was killed by an Angel. Willow who after coming across an Angel after doing a reading for a fellow school mate, she slowly finds out that the Angels aren’t what they seem to be. Everything both Alex and Willow thought they knew about Angels and themselves changes. I loved reading this book and loved the character’s. L.A. Weatherly’s Angel Burn is a book that you can get lost in. I hope other’s will check it out.

Azalea is trapped. Just when she should feel that everything is before her . . . beautiful gowns, dashing suitors, balls filled with dancing . . . it’s taken away. All of it. The Keeper understands. He’s trapped, too, held for centuries within the walls of the palace. And so he extends an invitation. Every night, Azalea and her eleven sisters may step through the enchanted passage in their room to dance in his silver forest. But there is a cost. The Keeper likes to keep things. Azalea may not realize how tangled she is in his web until it is too late.

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

This week’s pre-publication “can’t-wait-to-read” selection is:

Lacey Weatherford’s “The Dark Rising” (Of Witches and Warlocks #4)

Release date: Available NOW for e-readers and computer from Smashwords. Print available July 12, 2011 through 4 Corners Press.

Synopsis from Goodreads:

When Portia Mullins discovers the love of her life is still alive, her heart soars. But reality sets in immediately causing it to plummet when she realizes that he doesn’t remember his past life with her. Unwilling to give up on him, she embarks on a loving quest to help restore his life to him.
Vance Mangum sees the beautiful girl standing before him claiming to be his wife, and while he can’t remember her, he also can’t deny the intense pull he feels between them. Not knowing where else to turn, he agrees to give her the time she’s asked for and to help her in the effort to recover his memories.
The two quickly reconnect with one another, but dark surprises are lurking in the wings when Vance discovers a desperate longing for something he feels he can’t withstand. Will he be able to resist? Or will evil raise its head in a new form, leaving Portia as the prey of the very man her heart desires?
Darkness reigns supreme in this haunting tale of love and desperation, Of Witches and Warlocks, The Dark Rising.

I’m really looking forward to continuing the story with Portia and Vance. Book 3 (Blood of the White Witch) really makes you want to know what happens next. If you are thinking about starting to read the series and are just as impatient as I am, I suggest you wait until The Dark Rising comes out. It also doesn’t help with my lack of patience when there are a few certain people teasing me about it! But my day will come…. not soon enough though.

Another reason that I am eagerly waiting to read this book is that I have a scene with Vance in it! I was the grand-prize winner for Lacey’s Demon Kiss Blog Tour! One of the prizes I won was to be written into a scene with the hot warlock himself.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This Teaser Tuesday comes from Lacey Weatherford’s The Demon Kiss (Book 2 of her Of Witches and Warlocks Series)

“Pumpkin, I’m an encylopedia salesman,” I mimicked him. “But really I’m a warlock. Oh and did  I mention I’m a federal agent also?” I paused. “Is there anything else that I need to know about you?” I added loudly, calling to him over my shoulder, as I cast a glare back at him.

His only response was laughter.

“Yeah, until these two turn us in,” muttered another boy. “For, you know. The thing.”

“I’m sorry about your nose,” she said. He blinked.

“It’s not so bad,” he offered. “Look, Claire-”
