It has been way too long since either one of us has written a review. Life has been busy, but hopefully we can get back into the swing of things.

So the first book that we are going to re-kick this thing off with is by the one Author who got us into wanting to try doing a book blog in the first place, Mrs. Lacey Weatherford! We have been given the chance to be a Beta reader for her new book “Fire & Ice (Book of Shadows #1)”. This book is a retelling of The Trouble With Spells through the love of our literary lives, Vance Mangum.

I’m going to be completely honest. I knew Vance could not stop talking to Lacey and was THRILLED when she said she was writing the series through his eyes. Vance has also gone through some changes, muse wise. Originally, actor/Jedi Matt Lanter was the muse. Now it is the wonderful model Aaron McGuire. I was a little peeved that Lacey would change muses and felt that Aaron could not fill the shoes. Boy was I wrong. After having the opportunity to meet Aaron at a convention, Aaron became Vance. Vance was real! It was a match made in heaven… er, Sedona.

While reading Fire & Ice, we could picture Matt in some scenes and Aaron in others. It worked! And our love for Vance increased… as if that could have been possible!

So here we go on to the first review.  I was super excited to see that Lacey had considered me to be a beta reader for this book. If you have read the first stories that took you on the journey through Portia’s point of view and loved it, then I think you will love this journey through Vance’s point of view. I fell in love with Vance all over again while reading this. I can’t wait to find out how the rest of the story unfolds again, but through Vance’s eyes. Lacey Weatherford knows how to hook you into the story.  So I would highly recommend that you pick this book up. I give this book 5 stars.

I remembered certain scenes from The Trouble With Spells and knew when they were coming up. But I was so excited to see things from Vance’s side. He had so much emotion that was just begging to be told. My absolute favorite scene was the Halloween set-up. It makes me wish Halloween was like that for me. Lacey sucks you in to her characters and you fall in love with them… even if they are evil. She still has you loving to hate them. You do not need to read The Trouble With Spells to follow along with Vance’s side. But there are always two sides to every story, and both are equally fantastic. I give this 5 stars.
